Check out what some brave, creative activists did today in New York. Besides being charged with criminal trespass, they’ve also been charged with reckless endangerment and felony assault ?!? (who did they assault, the hotel?) But their message was heard and I tip my hat to them.

We went camping this weekend in Sequioa National Park with some friends of ours. It was great to get out of L.A. and really appreciate how beautiful California is once you get out of the city. Here are some pictures:

A waterfall that emptied into a great swimming hole where Michael and Aaron went swimming. Michael said the water was the coldest he had ever felt.

This was a nice little bird who landed right next to my foot while I was sitting at the edge of the Kings River. I think he liked having his picture taken.

This is the General Sherman tree. It is the largest living thing on earth. It’s over 2000 years old, almost 40 feet in diameter, and over 300 feet high. Some of its branches were larger than most of the trees around us.

These are the roots of a fallen sequoia tree near the General Sherman tree. I just thought they looked cool.

I take no joy (OK well maybe a little) in linking to this report that shows that the number of Americans living in poverty “increased by 1.3 million last year, while the ranks of the uninsured swelled by 1.4 million”. The reason I take any joy at all is that hopefully people will take notice and call Bush on all the garbage he’s been spewing about how the economy is doing just great. In terms of the election, this report is bad news for Bush and good news for Kerry.

It drives me absolutely crazy when I’m explaining to a Republican why I don’t like George Bush and they come back with “Well, I suppose you think Bill Clinton was the best president ever” with a big sarcastic roll of the eyes.

Well, yeah, I kinda do. In my humble opinion, he’s at least the best president we’ve had since I have been alive. He was a WAY better president than this loser we have now, and the only reason they feel they can make that jab is because of the Monica Lewinsky thing. Whatever. I could care less about that whole fiasco. He did so many good things while he was in office – the economy was strong and our country was safer (he didn’t ignore warning after warning like SOMEBODY I could name).

And the argument that Dubya is a better role model is absolute garbage. Let’s see what makes this guy a better role model:
1) Got arrested for drunk driving
2) Has admitted to using drugs
3) Was basically a deserter when he “served” in the military
4) Lied to his country and the world and got us into a war we can’t get out of

Hmmm. Now, what makes Bill Clinton, according to them a “less than perfect” role model? A blowjob in the Oval Office.

Republicans sure have their priorities straight.

Surprised, anyone? that a lawyer for Bush and Cheney has resigned because he also advised the Swiftboat Veterans for Truth group? Anyone? Anyone?

Heidi Fleiss is in my office today. I’m not sure what the lawsuit is about. Damn, woman looks chewed up and spit out.

My breakfast meeting went very very well this morning. Barring any disasters between now and mid-late September, I think we have a deal. This would work out very well for me, because it pays well, and I would be able to work from home most of the time, with occasional trips to an office downtown, which wouldn’t be terrible.

You know what Bob Dole? Shut the fuck up. No one cares about you and we sure didn’t like you enough to elect you, so take your hurt feelings and your dumb ideas and your demand for an apology and shove them up your ass.
