Check this out - the UK’s Guardian newspaper has organized a letter writing campaign where their readers write letters to US citizens, expressing their support for Kerry over Bush. And THIS is the sort of response they are getting: “Real Americans aren’t interested in your pansy-ass, tea-sipping opinions. If you want to save the world, begin with you own worthless corner of it”. This is from one reader in Texas.
Wow. You know, maybe we do have the right president. I mean, if Americans really are this ugly to people from another nation who are just trying to express their opinion, maybe we have in office exactly who is represents us best. I’ve been blaming it all on Bush, but I forget that there are a lot of ugly, ignorant people in this country who support him heart and soul. And if he gets re-elected, it’ll be because more people looked at him and his bigoted, short-sighted view of the world and said “YES. THIS MAN UNDERSTANDS ME”. That’s really fucking sad.
Well said!
And that is truly why if he gets re-elected, I’m considering leaving the country. It’s not Bush I’m running away from, it’s the ignorance of the people who I’m surrounded by.
I am so with you, Rox. We’ve actually made two trips up to Vancouver to check it out as a potential place to live. Just in case.
