Had a great weekend with my parents in town. Friday was my mom’s birthday (yay!) so we celebrated with a delicious dinner on Saturday night at one of our favorite restaurants, Grace, in Hollywood. Mom and Dad hadn’t been there before and really liked it. I was really glad to share it with them. We always have such a great time over a good meal and a few glasses of wine.
Also, on Saturday we went on a walk through the Venice canals. For those of you who don’t know, Venice, CA was designed to basically look just like Venice, Italy. There are a series of canals running through it. Nowadays, most of Venice is pretty skeezy. When you think of Venice, you think Muscle Beach and the tacky boardwalk with lots of ranting homeless people, street performers and lame souvenir shops. But walk a few blocks inland and you get to the canals. It’s unbelievable. The houses along them range in style anywhere from Italian style palazzos to Cape Cod to little bungalows. Just beautiful. And on a nice day, defintely worth a stroll.
