Moo.

I am up in the Bay Area visiting the fam for Thanksgiving.  I drove up yesterday along Interstate 5.

For those of you who have never driven along the 5, I give you this:

Meet your meat.  That’s cows, people.  Cows as far as the eye can see.  Click on the pictures to enlarge them so you can really see.

The pictures don’t do it justice, because it is one of the most disturbing things I have ever seen.  I was also only able to stop alongside the road at a point where the crowd of cows was a little thinner than they are on the rest of the ranch.  For about a three mile stretch, they are shoulder to shoulder, for acres and acres and acres.  We’re talking tens of thousands, possibly hundreds of thousands, of cows.  And the SMELL is unreal.  On a windy day, you can smell the cow crap from miles away.

So, for those of you who think that burger you eat comes from a cow who lived a long happy life in a lovely pasture grazing on nice fresh green grass, I direct your attention to the images above.
