Kate and Neil’s Grand Adventure

Last night we said goodbye to our dearest friends, Kate and Neil, who left this morning to move to Austin, Texas. Kate was the first new friend I made when I moved to LA almost eight years ago, and the two of them have been some of our closest friends ever since.

We ate together, drank together, partied like rock stars together (over many very very late nights!). Neil and I sang Tesla songs together, Kate and I danced like fools to eighties music together. And we all went to the midnight showings of Lord of the Rings together because, yes, we’re just that nuts. Kate was always there with a shoulder when I was freaking out over something, Neil was always there with a smoke and a movie when we just wanted to hang out. Their house was always the center of things, a meeting place where you could always find good friends and good conversation.

I will miss them dearly but know that this is the best thing for them - Kate is going back to school and Neil just really needed a change of scenery! I made them promise to email me every day and send pictures and letters and we promised to visit as soon as we can.

Our lives are changing and friends begin to spread their wings and leave the nest that is L.A. But I’m not too sad, because you know the friends you’ll have forever, that no time or distance can change, and Kate and Neil are truly friends like that. They will always be there and we will always love them.
