Today we went to the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach. We’d never been there before and had so much fun! I LOVE aquariums and this was the best I’ve ever seen.
Me checking out the fish
Some fish. (I just like this picture because it came out clear. The fish paused in his swimming for a second and held still for me. The rest of his fishy bretheren weren’t as cooperative.)
I’m tickling the anenome.
The absolute coolest thing were the stingray tanks where you could actually pet them! They come right up to the side and poke their noses out. I told Hawk they were almost like puppies, the way they begged to be petted. They’re so soft! Kind of slimy, but very soft.
Me petting the rays.
Me, enjoying the rays.
We did NOT pet Dr. Teeth here.
This sea lion kept sticking his flipper in his mouth. I thought it kind of looked like he was gagging himself, like “GACK! Stop looking at me you freaks! Don’t you have anything better to do!”
A ray gives a ghostly smile while swimming up the front of his tank. That shape behind him is a giant spider crab.
Hawk checking out the anenome.
An tank in the “Tropical Pacific” exhibit. The colors are unbelievable.
Hawk’s favorite, the Leafy Sea Dragon.
My favorite. I think he is a Yellow Boxfish. He was about the size of a quarter. SO cute!
We called this the “Finding Nemo” Tank.
A really amazing neon starfish.
Seahorse love.

Hi! I found your blog through a series of links, the path of which I completely forget now. Anyway, it’s cool to find another L.A. blogger/journaler! Also, I wanted to say that these pics are really cool. I went to the Monterey Bay Aquarium a while back and I, too, enjoyed petting the sting rays, and seeing all the other cool sea creatures. Aquariums are awesome. Hope you’re having a nice day!
I am really amazed with your pictures and mission for sea life.
May I invite you to join us with our Pro-Earth mission?
