Under the Knife

On Monday, both my grandma and my dog had surgery. Grandma, at 88, had her right hip replaced, and so far, it looks like she is recovering nicely. She’s a champ and comes from sturdy Kansan stock, so I didn’t expect any less. Go Gram!

Edited later to add: Just talked to my mom and evidently Grandma is now being a pain in the butt and refusing to eat because she “doesn’t feel well”. Even though the doctors are telling her that she doesn’t feel well because she won’t eat. And she’s generally being nasty to everyone. Great.

Daisy is also doing well, but don’t ask her to tell you that. She is a very very sad girl. She tore her ACL in her left rear leg about a month ago and had the surgery to repair it. Now, her leg is shaved, red, swollen and stapled together. So far, she won’t eat and cries a lot. But I think a couple days back at home will fix that. We have to keep her confined to a room about the size of a vet’s exam room for the next SIX WEEKS. We can take her outside to go to the bathroom but that’s it. Poor girl.
