My condolences to our liberal friends in the Great White North who got some bad news election-wise yesterday. Maggie tells me that this basically puts them in the same boat we liberals in the States are in, except they are still lucky enough that the conservative party is not the majority in Parliament, so the new conservative PM may not get everything accomplished that he wants to, including abolishiing same-sex marriage and abortion. At least that’s some good news.

The conservatives snagged 124 seats out of 308, which means 184 seats are in opposition, split up between the remaining parties. It could have been much, much worse. Thanks for the condolences!
