Hear the one about my uterus?

I had my HSG today and everything looks all good. My fallopian tubes are clear. I do, however, have a tipped uterus. The doctor administering the test says that it shouldn’t effect my chances of getting pregnant, staying pregnant or delivering, so I’m not worried. The reading I’ve done online says that it only really affects fertility if having sex is painful because of it, which is not a problem for me.

I’ve got an ultrasound scheduled with my doctor on Wednesday, where he’ll check out my ovaries. I had an ultrasound with another doctor last summer, and everything was fine then, so I’m sure it still is.

You know who you remind me of?

This is pretty cool. You upload a picture of yourself and it uses facial recognition software to tell you which celebrity you resemble (and what percentage you resemble them). Evidently, I look like Isabella Rossellini (61%), Joan Cusak (59%), Lara Flynn Boyle (58%), Kelly McGillis (59%), Madonna (58%)…and Roseanne Barr (57%). Nice.

Star Sighting

We saw Jennifer Love Hewitt at Casa Vega in Sherman Oaks lats night. She was trying to be relatively incognito and looked super cute in a dark grey turtleneck (Hawk and our friend Tony were disappointed that she wasn’t showing off the twins) and black hat w/all her hair tucked up under it. Was with some guy who must have been her boyfriend because they looked very cozy. Sucking down the margaritas.

That was a much better star sighting at Casa Vega than the time I saw Ryan Seacrest there. She’s way cuter and not nearly as gay.

Grandpa

Today I find myself thinking about my grandfather, my mother’s father, Al, who passed away when I was about one year old. He had pancreatic cancer (the family curse) and died way too young, in his fifties, I believe.

I realized today that I know very little about him. I know he loved the outdoors, was an avid hunter and archer and was very handy (even owned his own tv/radio repair shop).

What I know about him I know from anecdotes told by my mom, dad and grandma. I know that he is the reason I sucked my thumb until I was five (when I was a baby and was crying, he would walk me up and down the hallway of his house, prying my thumb out of my clenched fist and popping it into my mouth to quiet me down), and is possibly where my brother and I got our inclination to whistle when we’re happy.

I’ve seen pictures of him in the many family picture albums at my grandma’s house and this one particular one comes to mind. It was when he was sick, towards the end of his life, and he and I are laying in his bed together. I’m a baby - my guess is that I’m probably five or six months old. He’s turned on his side, facing me, smiling and talking to me. I’m looking happy and comfortable, I think in a little blue (or maybe white) sleeper outfit. I think the blanket on the bed is blue, too.

I have no memory of him and never got the chance to know him. This has always been the case, and I’ve just accepted it as fact. But today the father of a friend of mine passed away, from the same disease that took my grandpa, and he (my friend), has a three month old son. Before he died, he got to hold his grandson on his chest and rest with him for a little while.

It’s funny how things that happen to other people can bring up such strong feelings, but today I am mourning a grandfather I never knew. Today I learned how to miss something that I never really had in the first place.

Where do I start?

Lesse…

Today I went to this great yoga workshop called Yoga & Chocolate, where I got my ass kicked and tasted some delish Vosges chocolates. My favorite was the “Black Pearl” truffle, with ginger, wasabi and dark chocolate. Mmmm!

On Friday, Sarah, the Chief Perfumer at the perfume house where I work, asked me if I would like to begin an apprenticeship with them. Before the words even left her mouth I was like “YES!!” So, over the next couple months I’m going to start learning about blending and making perfume! I’m so excited. She said by the end of the year they would like to be able to bring me on full time. It’s perfect, it will complement my aromatherapy perfectly.

Also, I didn’t get in to the February anatomy class I wanted to take, so instead I am taking an Holistic Nutrition class, which starts March 20.

Lastly, I got my period today (boo!), but we went to go see a new doctor last week who has set up a little game plan for us this month. In a week or so, I have to go in for an HSG (hysterosalpingogram), which I hear hurts a bit (BOO!), but my mommy sent me good drugs in the mail (Yay!), so I will be all doped up and not care. Then, a couple days later I go in for an ultrasound, and a week after that, I have a blood test so they can test my progesterone levels. So this will be a very busy month vagina-wise, but hopefully all will come back clear so we can just make with the sex and get on with things. Wish us luck!

I think that’s it for now, hope everyone had a good weekend!

“So Tweasure Your Wove”

We celebrated Valentines Day by having fire in the fireplace and a nice little carpet picnic (yummy stuff from Whole Foods including fresh baguettes and brie, wine and blood orange martinis) and watching Princess Bride (”Mawidge. That dweam within a dweam”.).

I have the best husband ever. I am the luckiest woman alive. (And am quite drunk right now, hence the brevity and stilted-ness of my writing. You should have seen this entry before I spell-checked.)

LOVE TO Y’ALL!!

Domestic Goddess

Today I painted my bathroom AND made dark chocolate peanut butter ice cream.

I think this is the most productive Monday ever.

I rule.
