Will someone please tell me…

…how my cat managed to pee INSIDE my laptop case?

And no, the laptop was not inside said case at the time.

Thank God.

29

Today I am 29. Bring on the birthday cake!

We had an awesome time at Disneyland. I took a few pictures and will post them later. We got down there Wednesday afternoon, immediately went on Space Mountain which is AWESOME. They made it darker and faster. Pirates of the Caribbean had some updates too, mainly a couple Jack Sparrow animatrons, and a weird wall of smoke that had the Davey Jones character from the movie projected on it. Meh. Went on the Haunted Mansion, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, watched the fireworks, ate some ice cream. Lovely.
Thursday we got into the park at about 9am, our friends Cooper and Alicia met us there and we did it all again, including Splash Mountain, where Alicia got totally drenched. It was exactly what I wanted it to be.

I was re-reading the post I wrote on my birthday last year and thinking that this year really did turn out the way I wanted it to. I wrote that my biggest wish was to have a baby, and while that hasn’t happened yet, I learned more about myself this year than I think all the 28 years previous.

The “quest” to get pregnant, along with some other stuff that happened this past year, have been really really really hard, but as I look at them, I realize what an extraordinay gift I’ve been given. I truly have been given a chance to look at myself, see what was making me unhappy (and it had nothing to do with getting pregnant and a lot more to do with the voices in my head), and to change those things if I wanted to. I realize how much I have grown and changed this past year and, despite my love for Disneyland, cupcakes and soft cute things (I got the CUTEST Eeyore!) I think this year I have finally become a grown up. With a very healthy inner child :)
My wish for this year is Happiness, in whatever form it may take: holding hands with my husband, laughing with friends, playing with my dogs, eating a great meal, spending time with my parents, reading a good book, taking a bubble bath, travel, and (of course) hopefully, having a baby. Whatever is in the cards for me, I feel ready for it.

Bring it on.

Birthday Week Begins!

I LOVE my birthday! This week it falls on Friday, but I’ve got celebrations all week long.

Today we celebrated at work. I got to pick what I wanted for lunch (japanese - chicken teriyaki and a spicy tuna roll, mmm!), we had an ice cream cake (mint chocolate chip!) and I got presents, including a lovely pair of earrings, a couple gift certificates, some of the best cookies in the world, and, last but not least, my very own key to the office (on a lovely leather key chain)!

Wednesday and Thursday Hawk and I are going to Disneyland. Just because I’m turning 29 doesn’t mean I don’t like to spoil my inner child. It’s kind of silly how very very excited I am. I’m already making a mental list of all the rides I want to go on. I can’t decide on whether to start at Space Mountain or Pirates of the Caribbean.

Friday is my actual birthday, but I have to work. I think Hawk and I will go out to dinner, then on Saturday, we’re having a party!

There’s nothing like a week of festivities, merriment, friends and family to remind one that life is A-OK :)

10 Reasons Why Gay Marriage Will Ruin Society

If you ask me, these all make perfect sense.

Also, shame on you, New York. I’d shame on you too, Georgia, but we all know that would do a fat lot of good.

A Summary, Because I Suck at Updating

I’ve been really busy the past couple weeks, so I have been horrible at posting, for which I apologize. So here is a run-down of what’s been going on.

I painted our living room and hallway, so now we don’t look like the interior of a McDonalds. The living room is now kind of a “flax” color, a sort of warm beige, and the hallway is sort of gingersnap-y. We also got a kick-ass new tv stand. Here are some pics:

We went to Albuquerque this past weekend to visit the in-laws. We had a great time.

Had a BBQ on 4th of July with Hawk’s brother Jeremy, his girlfriend Katrina, and some other friends.

Started an Anatomy and Physiology class as part of my Aromatherapy program. So far it’s OK, but I almost had a tantrum earlier in the week while reading about the structure of cells. I really really really don’t give a crap about the structure of cells. I’m not going to be a doctor, I’m not going to be a scientist, I don’t see why this stuff is relevant. I’ve never liked this kind of stuff and now I’m taking a nine month course. I guess it’s a means to an end, and I suppose it’s good for me to know, seeming as how essential oils do have a physiological effect on the body. But I don’t have to like it.

Work has been really busy, both with the judge and at the perfumery. I feel like my free time has taken a nose dive and it’s a little nervewracking.

Still not pregnant, on round two of Clomid, had blood drawn today to check my progesterone levels. Owie. Luckily I’ve been so busy lately that I haven’t had a lot of time to pout about it. Well, maybe a little pouting. Hawk is getting really good at telling me “You’re not infertile” after I whine that I am at least once a day.

I’ve discovered the joys of online shoe shopping with Zappos.com and SoleStruck.com. Good prices, great selection. Free shipping both ways, super fast credit on returns. You totally can’t go wrong. I sound like a commercial, but it’s true. I got these, these, these and these.

Also, whatever you do, don’t buy anything from PalmerCash.com. I ordered five t-shirts from them on May 27, they charged my credit card, never sent me the shirts, and have not responded to repeated emails. I had to file a claim with my credit card company and I reported them to the Better Business Bureau. I might also contact the Idaho Attorney General (the company is based in Boise). I’m also not the only one that this has happened to. RipOffReport.com has thirteen posts from people who have been the victims of fraud from this company, and the Better Business Bureau site lists over fifty complaints! I’d ordered from them twice before and never had a problem, but I guess they decided to take the money and run or something. So, fuck those guys. I hope they get gonorrhea.
