Still Ouch

My back is really truly jacked. I’ve never had it be out for this long before, normally a day on the heating pad and a few Advil and I’m okay again. Not this time. Since Friday I’ve been eating the Vicodin they gave my husband for his thumb, I spent all day Sunday and most of the day yesterday flat on my back, and it still hurts.

It’s so frustrating, because I’ve got stuff I need to do. I have to go grocery shopping today for Thanksgiving food, I need to, oh I don’t know, GO TO WORK tomorrow (my boss sent me home early yesterday because I couldn’t walk in a full upright position). Then there’s the being on my feet all day Thursday cooking. Talk about bad timing.

I really hate this. It’s different from being sick, being down for the count because of the flu or something. That seems more…sympathetic somehow, more people can understand that. And it doesn’t inconvenience other people as much. With my back out, I feel fine, but I have to say, “can you hand me that - I can’t bend over” or “sorry, I can’t lift that five pound box”. I can’t even sit in a chair for that long. I feel so helpless.

I have an acupuncture appointment this afternoon, and she always does some massage as well, so I really hope that will help. I’ll get my shopping out of the way, then come home and get back in bed I suppose. Blech.

Ouch

I threw my back out yesterday morning and have been in quite a lot of pain. It was nothing - just walking down our back steps to go feed the dogs and all of a sudden OW OW OW OW OW. I spent the day flat on my back with a heating pad, an ice pack and a Vicodin or two. It still hurts pretty bad today. Guess I won’t be going to the gym.

It didn’t stop me from going to see Neko Case last night (nothing short of death would have) and she was awesome. It was great seeing her in the Disney Concert Hall, because the acoustics are so spectacular, it was the perfect venue to really let her voice shine. I could have listened to her all night.

Who Do I Look Like?

Stoked on the Maggie Smith and Sela Ward. Not too sure about the Stevie Nicks, and I have no idea who those other women are (except Eliza Dushku - she was on Buffy!)

NaBloPoMo is HARD, Y’All

I have nothing to say, I really don’t. You can probably tell from my last couple posts. I’m like, uhhh, I got nothing, so…Here! Look at this instead!

Lessee…hmm. Going for sushi tonight with some friends. Yummy.

I’m going to see Neko Case at the Walt Disney Concert Hall tomorrow night. Super stoked about that.

The dogs had their first successful stay alone in the backyard today while I went to the gym. No carnage, no atrocities - yay. Daisy has one of those cone collars on right now because she has an owie on her foot that she keeps licking. She is not a happy camper. Jenny continues to be cute and loveable and a total spaz. I’ve taken to calling her “Knucklehead McSpazzatron” (which I got from the Spongebob Squarepants movie), and I think she likes the new nickname, because she smiles and me and licks me whenever I say it. But then again, all she ever does is smile and lick me, so I could be wrong.

Benign Girl

Check out this link of Cracked magazine’s 25 Most Baffling Toys from Around the World. Not surprisingly, most are from Japan. They have a very odd fetish with toys related to poop.

My favorites are #16, #14, #10 (especially this one, I about died laughing) and #5 (it was Raging Emo that did it).

Pig Punch

This is a link to a sketch that was cut from last week’s Saturday Night Live. It’s a parody of a commercial for the iPhone, and it almost made me pee my pants.

Before you send hate mail, let me include the disclaimer that I have several law enforcement officers in my family, so it’s not the idea of punching police in the face that I find so funny. You shouldn’t punch police officers. Not nice, not a good idea. It’s just Jason Sudeikis’ delivery - “It’s the only thing that keeps me sane these days. Well…that and the meth.”

New Must-Reads

The main reason I love NaBloPoMo is the chance it gives me to check out a whole bunch of new blogs and have new people discover mine. Since I’m running around doing errands today and don’t have much time to post, I thought I would share a few of my new favorite fellow bloggers. Enjoy!

Sassy - Sassy lives in France (lucky) and writes very honestly about her fertility challenges.
Bella - A courageous, beautiful, inspirational woman if ever there was one. And quite the writer.
Saucygrrl - Fellow animal lover, and a great read.
Live at the KitKat Lounge - Fellow Valley Dweller and a great photographer to boot. Also has a purse fetish. My kind of woman.

Nick of Time

Woo! Got in today’s post four minutes before midnight. Haven’t missed a day yet!

We went to see Feist play at the Universal Amphitheater. She was a.ma.zing. Awesome show.

Although, going to Universal means having to walk through the Universal City Walk, and I feel like a bad person for just being there. It’s so…neon. And full of chain restaurants and crap souvenir stores. Ick.
