Two Different Views

February 24th, 2010

I’ve been practicing lately with different kinds of post-processing on my photos.  I took this picture of Áine today and did one that was just a general exposure/contrast adjustment and one in black and white.  I think I like the B&W better, but the color one is so pretty.

Which do you prefer?

A First Daddy Daughter Walk – “We Are Family” Challenge

January 18th, 2010

This week’s theme on I Heart Faces is “We Are Family”. I wanted to share a picture of my family (minus me, because I’m the one behind the camera – always.  Sigh.).

One of the things I have found the most amazing since Áine was born is the connection that she has with Hawk.  He is an incredible father, so patient and kind and gentle.  And she loves him so much.  She cries for him when he leaves the room, her face lights up when she sees him walk through the door.

She just started walking in the past couple weeks, and over the weekend he brought her outside for a little stroll in the sunshine.

My Winter – “You Capture”

January 13th, 2010

This post is for the “You Capture” Challenge at I Should Be Folding Laundry. The theme this week is “My Winter”, to give all the participants across the country a chance to share what winter is like for them.

I live in Los Angeles and our winters are usually pretty balmy. Case in point, these pictures are from Christmas morning. We drove up the Pacific Coast Highway to a restaurant called the Chart House, had surf and turf for lunch, and then took a walk on the beach.

My Beauty – “Best Face” Photo

January 11th, 2010

This week’s theme at I Heart Faces is “Best Face”.

My Beauty

I took this photo of Áine in early December (December 5th to be exact) when we went to Palm Springs  to visit our friends Jason and Madeline.  We took a walk in the early evening and I snapped this.  I think it will always be one of my favorite photos of her.  She just looks SO BEAUTIFUL and in those big blue eyes I feel like I can get just a glimpse of the adult that she will one day become.

Edited to add:

Oh my gosh!  Angie and Amy picked this photo as one of their weekly favorites!  I am so honored!  The other winners are AMAZING.  Thanks so much!

From the Back

November 29th, 2009

This week’s theme on I Heart Faces is “Tushies”.  I took this picture of Áine and her Uncle Jeremy on a recent trip to New Mexico and love it, and this is a perfect way to share it.

Golden Hour

November 2nd, 2009

Áine’s Uncle Jeremy and Auntie Katrina got into town for a visit this afternoon and we took advantage of the unseasonably warm weather to relax on the front lawn.

Also for the “You Capture” Challenge at I Should Be Folding Laundry.
